Who writes ProTenders guides

Our guides are used to make real bidding and funding decisions, so it should be clear who stands behind them and how they are put together.

ProTenders Procurement Desk

Procurement Intelligence Desk

The team that maintains ProTenders' tender data pipeline and writes its procurement guides, working from the published rules of the relevant South African authorities.

How we work

We start from the published rule, not a summary of it

Guides on CIDB grading, CSD registration and B-BBEE requirements are written from the issuing authority's own published rules. Where a requirement comes from a specific body, we name and link it so you can check it yourself.

Numbers come from the data, not from memory

Spend figures, award values and market sizes are read from the eTenders OCDS feed and National Treasury BAS data. What is measured versus what we derive is set out in full on the methodology page.

We say when something is an estimate

Opportunity scores, market sizes and win probabilities are modelled. They are labelled as estimates wherever they appear, because a bidder pricing real work deserves to know which numbers are observations and which are inferences.

Corrections are fixed, not argued

If a figure is wrong or a rule has changed, email support@protenders.co.za with the page URL or tender reference. Source-feed corrections flow through on the next sync; anything we derived we correct by hand.

What we do not do

  • We do not give legal, financial or tax advice. Our guides explain public procurement process. For a decision carrying real money, confirm the current rule with the issuing authority.
  • We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, and no guide recommends a supplier in exchange for anything.
  • We do not publish tender data we cannot trace to a source. If it is not in the OCDS feed or Treasury BAS data, it does not go on a page as fact.
